Unfortunately, there are many habits in the world today that can harm your child’s smile. As you have probably already guessed, it’s best to help your child avoid those habits altogether. That way they can have the strong and healthy smile and oral health they deserve. To help you help your child, our dentists, Dr. Neal and Dr. Amy, will be happy to list the habits you should help your child avoid, which are:

-Not wearing a mouthguard when playing high-contact sports, like rugby, football, soccer, and basketball

-Not keeping up on oral hygiene (It’s best to brush twice a day and floss daily with products that have been approved by the American Dental Association)

-Not visiting the dentist regularly (It’s vital to attend checkups every six months)

-Eating sugary and acidic foods and drinks

-Ignoring tooth decay

-Misusing whitening treatments

-Using the teeth as tools (Using the teeth to open a package or tear off a tag can fracture the enamel)

-Biting the nails

-Brushing too vigorously

-Flossing too rough

-Snacking constantly
